I always wanted to be an author. I always wanted to be published. Not for the money, not for the fame but for a single idea that one day I’ll be long gone from this life and yet a piece of my soul and heart will be living on in my stories. A legacy. A memory. A flicker of life from the Afterlife.
That’s why I wrote and why I published.
Yet at times, I have to remind myself of that.
Sometimes I have to step away from social media, from all the indie author-help groups, from all the never ending advice of how to be “successful” as an author to remember my why.
Because when your success doesn’t measure up to others (shouldn’t be comparing myself to begin with but nobody is perfect okay), when the “tricks & tips” don’t work…. and you find yourself out of breath because you’ve been sprinting for so long and yet the finish line is nowhere to be found you have to hold on to your why.
Otherwise you simply won’t make it.
So if you are thinking of writing a story, start with your why.
